Griot history vs text based history

Griot history was a unique way of retelling history. The songs sung would tell a story. This was a good way to get the information across. Somebody could easily understand what was being told. The problem however was that throught time, the stories were changed. Since they were oral, there was no true record so nobody knows what actually happened. This is why text based history is better. It is recorded and cant really be changed. It might be boring, but it's usually always the right story.
